TWO OSO MUDSLIDE BENEFITS IN SKY VALLEY THIS WEEKEND

(SULTAN, WA) -- There are two benefit fundraisers being held this weekend in the upper Sky Valley for the victims and families of victims of the devastating March 22 mudslide near Oso, Washington.
The Sky River Equestrian Center in Sultan, Washington is holding a "Ride For The Slide" event with or without horses.
The event is being held Sunday April 13 at the Center, 15729 - 365th Ave. SE in Sultan (just off Mann Road). The event begins at 9:00 am with registration followed by an Easter egg hunt on an obstacle course, cowboy gorse races, raffle prize drawings and more.
The goal is to fill a horse trailer with donated goods that can be utilized by search crews at the scene as well as the local community as they clean up from this devastating mudslide and flooding. Needed are: socks, Atlas brand work gloves, towels, toiletries, canned food, all types of cleaning supplies, duct tape, rubber boots, tarps, garbage bags, etc.
Also gift cards for Shell (gas for crew’s chainsaws, etc) as well as gift cards for stores where survivors can shop for specific things they need to rebuild their lives (grocery stores, Target, Walmart, etc). These items will be delivered to Darrington on Monday, April 14th.
Also needed are monetary donations of cash and checks. Checks should be made payable to “Darrington Recreation & Education Fund” (DREF) and will be deposited to the DREF account at Coastal Community Bank on Monday April 14th

BAKE SALE BENEFIT IN GOLD BAR
There is also a bake sale being held in Gold Bar to benefit the Oso community. It's Sat. and Sun. April 12 and 13 at Gateway Park in Gold Bar from 10 am to 4 pm.
All proceeds go to North County Family Services for victims of the Oso slide through Coastal Community Bank.
Gateway Park is located at the intersection of 5th and Orchard Streets, one block North (left if you are heading eastbound) off U.S. Highway 2 which travels through Gold Bar.
JR. ROLLER DERBY & FOOD BANK FUNDRAISER
Gold Bar/Index Police Chief David Casey’s daughter has organized a food drive for the Sky Valley Food Bank which includes an opportunity to see Evergreen Junior Roller Derby’s “Mob City Misfits” skate against the “Skagit Derby Brats” April 27th at the Everett Skate Deck.
You'll see some fun and exciting Roller Derby action between two nationally ranked junior roller derby teams, while supporting a local charitable organization.
Admission to these events is normally $10, but the fee is waived for a donation of at least three food items at the door. Organizers ask that you try for 3 pounds or more total.
Bring folding chairs to sit on. Miss Casey is hosting the fundraiser as part of a college scholarship competition with Rotary International.
