SULTAN TRUCK THIEF CAUGHT QUICKLY
May 09, 2012

(SULTAN, WA) -- A local truck theft suspect didn’t get very far with the goods on Tuesday.

About 2:00 a.m. a homeowner in the Sky Harbor Development just off Sultan Basin Road called 911 to report their truck had just been stolen.

Several Snohomish County Sheriff’s deputies arrived in the area a short time later and found the truck being driven on the Basin Road north of Sultan.

They stopped and arrested the male driving it and found out a few things.

One, the man – who lives in the area and has a history of auto theft – was out prowling cars that night and two, the homeowner made it easy for the truck to be stolen by leaving the keys to that truck in another unlocked car.

Lt. Jeff Brand of the sheriff’s office who serves as Sultan’s police chief said this is the second vehicle thief from Sultan that has been arrested in the last week and also the second time authorities have recovered a car that was stolen because the keys were either left in the car or were readily available to a thief in another manner.

Brand added this was also the second time police had recovered a stolen vehicle due to a quick call to 911 and good information being provided by the caller.
