| | SULTAN STORM WATER STAKEHOLDERS MEETING IS THURSDAY SEPT. 9 September 07, 2010

(SULTAN, WA) -- Sultan is hosting a “Stormwater Stakeholders” meeting at the Sultan Community Center on Thursday, September 9 from 6:00pm to 7:00pm.
The purpose of the meeting is to review stormwater expenditures and work plan for 2010 and to discuss the stormwater budget for 2011.
Sultan homeowners are currently billed $6.75/month to fund the stormwater utility. That money is used to maintain the city’s stormwater system including removing debris from conveyance (pipe) systems, maintaining city owned retention and detention ponds and constructing capital projects to reduce flooding and improve storm drainage.
The Stormwater Stakeholders were a group of citizens who worked with the city during adoption of the stormwater utility and annual fee schedule. All Sultan residents and interested community members are invited to attend the meeting to learn more about the city’s stormwater utility.
During the adoption of the utility in 2008, the city committed to meeting with the stakeholders group annually during the budget process to review expenditures for the current year and the staff proposed budget for the following year.
This is an opportunity for citizens to provide input and feedback on the stormwater utility and proposed budget.
The stakeholders meeting will be followed at 7:00pm by the city council’s regular meeting.
