PARTIES IDENTIFIED IN ASSAULT ON SULTAN MAN

(SULTAN, WA) -- Sheriff’s deputies who were investigating a report of a man being assaulted in Sultan Friday night found out that not all was as it appeared to be.
An unidentified adult male reported to police he was walking on First Street in Sultan at about 11:30 p.m. Friday night when a small silver 4-door foreign made car stopped near him.
He said four males got out and assaulted him without saying anything.
Since then, says Snohomish County Sheriff Lt. Jeff Brand who serves as Sultan’s police chief, deputies have located and spoken to a number of witnesses to the assault and, “Have learned our victim has not been completely honest when this assault was reported. It appears this was not a random assault and the other parties involved have been identified,” said Brand in a statement.
Earlier Brand had noted that stranger assaults in Sultan are rare occurrences.
