(SULTAN, WA.) – The first evening “Coffee with the Police Chief” event takes place at 6:00 pm Thursday, March 29, at the Sultan Ixtapa restaurant.

The Ixtapa (they used to have a killer garlic prawn dish there) is located right on Highway 2, at 507 W. Stevens Avenue in Sultan. Can’t miss it. Just pass the Sultan River bridge, left hand side of the road as you’re headed eastbound.

You’re invited to come on in, set yourself down and spend some time with Sultan Police Chief Lt. Steve McDonald. He’s a swell guy and he’ll give an overview of Snohomish County Sheriff's Office goals and initiatives plus you can ask any question your heart desires as long as its not too goofy a question.

It it’s really a goofy question then the bouncer, Big Al, will just pick you up like a sack of taters and heave you out the front door.

Just kidding about Big Al. Wanted to see if you were paying attention. You can ask goofy questions if you want. The Chief’s probably heard them all by now anyway.

Hey, here's one you can ask for us (we can't be there because we have hunting Falcons molting in the garage and they demand a lot of attention during the molting phase).

Is it true that most cop shops are getting away from .40 caliber semi-auto rounds for duty guns and going back to 9 mm ammo because the .40 caliber rounds (snappy little devils, we don’t care for them at all) are too hard on the guns and they just beat em’ up too much making them wear out faster and thus end up costing us taxpayers more money?

That’s what we heard. That’s what the jungle drums are pounding out. And if they are going back to 9 mm, ask him what kind of rounds (ammo) they’ll be using. Just curious. You can send us an email with the answers. Extra points for good spelling.

(As a side note, we heard the new DRT (Dynamic Research Technologies) 9 mm rounds are like super-spiffy and way out-perform the “old” style and standard hollow point stuff. Hey, just sayin.’)
