(SULTAN, WA.) -- Around 11:40 pm Friday night there was a break in at the Sky Valley Visitor's Center located on Main Street in Sultan just across from the library and city hall.

"Someone threw a rock and broke out the glass in the door," said Sky Valley Chamber of Commerce President Debbie Copple. "Once inside they smashed the glass in the display case stealing the 38 Special (handgun) that was part of our historical display. It does not have the firing pin in it and has no value except for its historic connection to the Town of Sultan."

Copple is asking area residents to keep an eye out for that gun and to "keep your ears open for clues."

She added that there is video surveillance footage of the center and it has been passed on to the police.

If you hear of anything connected to the break-in you're asked to call 911. The case number is: 2015-10595.

The visitor center will be closed until the area can be cleaned and set to reopen.
