| |  SNOHOMISH MAN SHOOTS SELF IN REAR END BY ACCIDENT Was heading out on a hike August 30, 2010

 (BLEWETT PASS, WA) -- A 52-year old Snohomish man who was getting set to go on a hike on Blewett Pass Saturday accidentally shot himself with his handgun, according to a report in the Wenatchee World.
Darrel Elam, 52, was about 12 miles from Peshastin when the accident happened. He had moved his .40 caliber handgun from a holster to his back pocket and the gun went off by accident.
The discharge sent a bullet down his left buttock and left leg and stopped near his knee, according to the report HERE
Elam was treated and released from a local hospital
