SNO-ISLE LIBRARIES HAS TEDx SPEAKER EVENT SET FOR NOV. 6

One of the speakers at the TEDxSnoIsleLibraries event set for Nov. 6: Dorothy (Dottie) Metcalf-Lindenburger, teacher, geologist, astronaut.
(EDMONDS, WA.) -- Sno-Isle libraries has announced that twenty-three speakers will be on stage at the inaugural "TEDxSnoIsleLibraries" speakers event on Nov. 6.

The theme of the daylong event is “Creating New Futures and takes place from 9am to 5:30 pm Friday, Nov. 6 at the Edmonds Center for the Arts.

All seats have been reserved for the main venue at the Edmonds Center for the Arts. However, the public is also invited to view a simulcast of the talks and join in discussion at 10 libraries: Camano Island, Coupeville, Darrington, Edmonds, Freeland, Granite Falls, Lynnwood, Marysville, Monroe, and Snohomish.

Anyone interested in attending a library viewing group should register online at sno-isle.org/tedx/attend.

The 5:30 am to 7 pm after-party in the IdeaLab (Edmonds Center gym) is free and open to the public, with no registration required.

“Our goal is to showcase short talks that will explore how businesses, communities, and people can thrive here in Snohomish and Island counties,” said organizer Ken Harvey, director of communications for Sno-Isle Libraries.

Talks or performances will be given by: Ann P. McMahon, Anna Rohrbough, Barbara Tolbert, Ben Hempstead, Catherine McHugh, Dorothy Metcalf-Lindenburger, Egils Milbergs, Erin Boyd, Evan Briggs, Frances Lewis, Jeff Ericson, Jennifer James, Ken Grant, Kenn Dickinson, Matt Cail, Nam-ho Park, Sarri Gilman, Shaela Niles, Sujan Shrestha, Swil Kanim, Tammy Mach, Terry Thoren and Xola Malik.

The speakers range from scientists to business experts, engineers and aerospace executives to people like Dorothy (Dottie) Metcalf-Lindenburger a teacher, geologist and astronaut.
