(SNOHOMISH, WA) -- The student council at Snohomish’s Maltby Elementary School sponsored their annual food drive for the Maltby Food Bank this month.

And it was indeed successful.

Donations totaling more than 3,500 items came from Maltby Elementary families and members of the broader community.

The Maltby Food Bank is an independent, non-profit organization that serves close to 150 families each week.

Four local fire stations are collecting food and toys during the holiday season: Clearview #71, Maltby #74, Fernwood #72 and Mill Creek #76.

The food bank is welcomes all food items, toys and gifts for children through age 18 and gift cards for older kids and seniors. The bank also needs socks for people of all ages. New or gently used clean blankets, sleeping bags and bath towels are also welcome.
