Fagerlie selected to Snohomish School District Board of Directors
January 25, 2017

(SNOHOMISH, WA.) -- Sara Fagerlie, PhD, has been selected by the Snohomish School District Board of Directors to fill the post recently vacated by Leah Hughes-Anderson.

Fagerlie will be sworn into office at the Wednesday, January 25, School Board meeting, according to a statement from the district.

Fagerlie is a 1988 graduate of Snohomish High School and resides in the district with her husband and three children.

The new director holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Biochemistry and Mathematics from the University of Washington and a Doctor of Philosophy in Molecular and Medical Genetics from Oregon Health and Science University.

Fagerlie has a history of involvement in Snohomish school and community activities and has extensive professional background in hematology, oncology and continuing education.

“I come from a humble background, but was taught the value of hard work and the importance of education,” said Fagerlie. “I believe that all students, whether they are headed for postsecondary education or not, deserve a strong educational foundation. My hope is that every student, regardless of the school they attend or their socioeconomic background, be provided ample opportunity for success."

Ms. Hughes-Anderson, who served as the Board Member representing District 2, recently decided to step down from the post after 13 years of service.

Her last day was December 31, 2016.. Through an application process, the School Board was tasked with appointing a replacement to serve through the next regularly scheduled board election in November 2017.
