| |  FORMER SNOHOMISH HIGH PLAYER GOES TO NBA’S MILWAUKEE BUCKS July 23, 2010

CLICK TO ENLARGE (MILWAUKEE, WIS.) -- The Milwaukee Bucks completed a trade Wednesday for Sacramento Kings forward Jon Brockman, a 23-year-old graduate of Snohomish High School and former UW Husky basketball player.
Brockman, a 6-foot-7 power forward, averaged 2.8 points and 4.1 rebounds in limited play during 52 games as a rookie with the Kings. He was picked in the second round of last year's NBA draft.
The Bucks completed a sign-and-trade deal for Brockman in exchange for forward Darnell Jackson and a 2011 second-round pick.
In an interview with the Seattle Times Brockman said it was bittersweet leaving the Kings. He had just signed a new contract worth about $3 million over the next three years.
Brockman was called “The Brockness Monster” in Sacramento and has a Twitter audience of more than 320,000 followers.
Brockman was drafted 38th overall in the 2009 NBA Draft by by Sacramento along with guard Sergio Rodriguez and cash considerations from Portland in exchange for the draft rights to Jeff Pendergraph (31st overall, 2009 NBA Draft).
He signed a multi-year contract with the Kings in September 2009. He is the fifth player in the Kings franchise history to don #40. Last was Kevin Gamble, 1996-98.
Brockman was honored as a 2009 Tom Hansen Medal Winner, bestowed to Pac-10 Conference athletes that exhibit the greatest combination of performance and achievement in scholarship, athletics, and leadership. He was also voted the UW team MVP and presented with the Harshman Award for the fourth consecutive season as the leading Husky rebounder.
He was also the first player in Husky history to amass at least 1,800 career points (1,805) and 1,200 rebounds (1,283), and the only player to pace the UW in rebounding for four-straight seasons.
He joined UCLA legends Lew Alcindor (1967-69) and Bill Walton (1972-74) as the only players to lead the Pac- 10 in rebounding for three consecutive years.
