STEVENS PASS PEDESTRIAN SAFETY BRIDGE ALMOST DONE

(STEVENS PASS) -- The Wash. State Dep’t of Transportation (WSDOT) says drivers can expectoccasional closures of one of the outside lanes of U.S. highway 2 at the summit of Stevens Pass as needed through the emd of the month as work progresses on the new pedestrian safety overpass bridge.
The work zone speed limit is 45 mph weekdays and 60 mph on weekends.
Each day Mon. through Fri. from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. this month WSDOT contracted work crews are pouring the last of the concrete for the project. Landscaping work continues.
Note: The west view Stevens Pass traffic camera is operating and the east view camera should be back on line this week.

In this $1.8 million U.S. Highway 2 safety project, Tri-State Construction, Inc. crews are building a pedestrian crossing over the highway to the summit parking lot.
The project also installs a right turn lane into the west summit parking lot. Work began May 10 and should be complete by Oct. 29 acciordng to WSDOT.
