Opening Day Of This Year's Monroe Farmers Market
June 28, 2017
(MONROE, WA.) -- You will be pleased as purple punch to know that today is opening day of the 2017 "Farm to Table Farmers Market" in Monroe, the anchor city of the mighty Sky Valley (alternately Skykomish Valley) here in Washington state where all the women are strong and pump iron, all the men are movie star pretty and all the kids are so far above average they start to levitate by the age of two.
Opening day takes place from 3pm to 7pm at Lake Tye Park (map is at right). This fine publication has been advised by the fabulous Molly over at Poppy Seed Productions that, "We've been working hard all year to bring you the BEST SEASON YET!"
At Poppy Seed they love those caps and exclamation marks: "TONS of vendors including fresh, local produce, meats, eggs, honey, flowers, baked goods, sweet treats & more!
But wait...there's more! (as the late TV pitchman Billy Mays would say).
There are also FREE (key word) kids activities including Face Painting, Balloon Animals, Crafts & of course, the Power of Produce Kids Club is back.
Here's how the kids club works: each child will receive a POP passport that gets stamped each week he/she visits the market. Plus, each child will receive a $2 token to spend on fresh fruits and veggies which is very nice and compliments of sponsors like the YMCA, Boys & Girls Club, Monroe Christian School, and Puget Sound Pediatric Dentistry that will be providing classes, activities and more for all families that participate in this program.
They also have food trucks, live music (they tried dead music but it didn't work), a beautiful park and lake setting etc., etc., and so forth and so on.
So get out there and have a swell time. Check the map above.
