KINDERGARTEN INFORMATION NIGHT COMING IN MARCH
February 07, 2010

(MONROE, WA0 -- The first day of school for a 5-year-old child can be filled with excitement or anxiety. Much of that feeling depends on how well informed his or her family is before that first day.

Monroe Public Schools invites parents and guardians to learn more at Kindergarten Information Night on Tuesday, March 2 at 6:30 p.m. Families with children ready to start kindergarten in September 2010 are encouraged to attend.

These informational meetings will be hosted by each school’s principal and include discussion of curriculum as well as the registration process. A separate time next fall will be set for children to visit their new school as this evening is for adults.

Kindergarten registrations will be accepted that evening including sign ups for the extended classes.

Enrollment and available classroom space will dictate which schools are able to host an extended day program. The number of registrations received by April 8 will decide which schools are able to host the extended learning option.

Fees to participate in the extended program are determined by the federal school meal program.

Registration for half-day and extended day classes will continue to be accepted from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. on weekdays at each neighborhood elementary school. If unsure which school serves your area, families may visit the schools’ website at www.monroe.wednet.edu or call the public schools’ Transportation Office at 360.804.2650.

Early registration is important for placement at your neighborhood’s school.

State law requires incoming Kindergarten students to have received current immunizations and be age 5 by August 31, 2010 to enroll for the 2010-2011 school year.

The child’s certified birth certificate is required.

Monroe’s public elementary schools are located at:
Chain Lake Elementary School

Frank Wagner Elementary School
meeting at West campus at 115 Dickinson Road, 360.804.3300
