BIG TREE, PLANT & SHRUB SALE TODAY & SATURDAY IN MONROE
March 05, 2010

(MONROE, WA) -- Gardeners all across the county have been waiting for this one. The Snohomish Conservation District holds its 25th annual conservation plant, tree and shrub sale today and Saturday, March 5th and 6th a the Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe.

Hours are 10 AM to 4:30 PM Friday and 9 AM to 3 PM Saturday.

The annual sale is a big event for area gardeners and features numerous native trees, shrubs and various groundcovers that gardeners can use for naturescaping, erosion control, hedgerows, grow-your-own Christmas trees and wildlife habitat.

Informative booths will also be available to learn more about native plants and area organizations involved in natural resources, agriculture and forestry.

All plants are sold on a first-come, first-serve basis. Cash and checks accepted, no credit cards. Among the grow-your-own Christmas trees there are Noble, Douglas and Grand firs.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the sale event there will be a drawing for two small wooden benches originally designed by Aldo Leopold, and built by an accomplished woodworker.

Just how popular is this sale? Well, it sells over 60,000 plants every year with proceeds helping to fund the Snohomish Conservation District’s environmental education programs.

Check the District website for more information: http://snohomishcd.org/plant-sale.
