MISCELLANEOUS NEWS ITEMS | | STATE PATROL BEEFS UP TROOPER COUNT For King County This Weekend February 06, 2010

(OLYMPIA, WA) -- As the Sky Valley, region and rest of the nation starts the beginning of Super Bowl weekend the Washington State Patrol remonds drivers that there will be extra troopers out on the highways this weekend enforcing DUI, speed, and aggressive driving laws on King County highways.
This weekend King County will be staffing an extra 22 troopers in the effort to keep things safe by eliminating fatality and serious injury collisions.
“Last year troopers apprehended 34 DUI’s and we were happy to report that there were no fatality collisions on King County highways during Super Bowl weekend. We are hoping for the same outcome this year,” said Captain Steve Burns with the Washington State Patrol.
Alcohol impairs judgment and decision making ability. The WSP reminds drivers to make prior arrangements for transportation before leaving for a party.
Arrange for sober transportation to and from a location or make arrangements to stay the night. Plan ahead so you’re not forced to make a decision after you have been drinking.
WSP encourages motorists to call 9-1-1 if they observe an impaired or aggressive driver.
The caller will need to provide the location, direction of travel, a vehicle description (color, make, and model), a license plate if available, and a brief summary of what the vehicle is doing.
