MISCELLANEOUS NEWS ITEMS | | SMALL COMMUNITY CASTS WIDE NET FOR PERFORMERS TO BENEFIT A "BROKE" TOWN February 03, 2010

(CASTLE ROCK, WA) -- There are lots of folks here in the Sky Valley with an abundance of talent; everything from playing a mean blue grass fiddle to a blues harp to serious head banging rock.
And Castle Rock, Washington is out to prove that small towns everywhere have big talent.
There’s a talent show called Castle Rock Rocks! that’ll be held at the Toutle River RV Resort July 3 through September 4 to benefit the town and producers are now casting a wide net for talented performers.
All contestants will compete for a Small Town “pat on the back” and BIG City airfare prizes, like to New York and Los Angeles.
The town is searching for singers, dancers, comedians, magicians, ventriloquists, jugglers, poets the works. Submissions are due June 18th via web mail (submissions@greatrvresort.com).
The benefit for the town portion comes in the fact that contestants must spend $25 somewhere in Castle Rock and show their receipt prior to competition.
Producer Charlie Curry says, “Anyone with talent, from any town big or small is welcome to participate. This small town does not discriminate. So contestants spend $25 and spectators must spend $5. You see, our broke ass town stands to greatly benefit from the purchases of our local goods and services…just think of it as ‘Castle Rock’s Stimulus Package.” Competition starts July 3rd and continues with weekly performances each Saturday through August 21, 2010 with the final showdown Labor Day weekend, September 4, 2010.
All contestants will have the opportunity to perform on the main stage at the Toutle River Music Shed located on the grounds of Toutle River RV Resort.
Shows will be judged by resident judges accompanied by visiting celebrity judges throughout the competition.
“We are currently looking for judges and celebrity performers with small town roots or small town songs. If you want to help a small town hit the big time please give us a call.” Added Curry. The Music Shed at Toutle River RV Resort is a rather unique, alternative performing venue – a campground with a huge music venue.
Castle Rock Rocks! Is produced by long time concert producer Charlie Curry who’s assisted by multi-media producer and executive director and writer of American Country Countdown, Donna Britt who will be a celebrity judge at the final showdown, Sep 3, 2010.
