ENTERTAINMENT NEWS | | DELIVERY OF CARDS & LETTERS FOR WSP TROOPER MEMORIAL SERVICE August 26, 2010

(UNION GAP, WA) - The Washington State Patrol and the families of Trooper Gary Miller, Communications Officer-4 Anne Miller-Hewitt, and Trooper Kristopher Sperry have expressed their gratitude for the strong outpouring of support from the community and citizens throughout Washington over the untimely deaths of the three troopers.
The state patrol says those wishing to send condolence cards to the families may either bring them to the memorial for the three at the Yakima SunDome on Friday, or send them to the WSP District Office at:
Washington State Patrol 2715 Rudkin Rd Union Gap, WA 98903
The patrol says others have expressed a desire to send flowers for the memorial. Those will be gratefully accepted but in order to be displayed at the service they need to be delivered to the SunDome in Yakima by 8:00 a.m. this Friday.
The public is welcome to attend the memorial at the SunDome. However, the procession from Sunnyside to the memorial is restricted to emergency responders only.
Investigators have determined it was smoke inhalation that caused the deaths of three Washington State Patrol employees in that house fire August 16 in eastern Washington, according to the Yakima County Coroner Jack Hawkins.
Hawkins also said the autopsies that were done uncovered no sign of foul play and that asphyxiation from smoke inhalation would be listed as the official cause of death.
The cause of the fast moving blaze remains under investigation.
Killed in the fire was 55-year old state trooper Gary Miller, his wife, emergency communications manager Anne Miller-Hewitt, 54; and a newly graduated trooper Kristopher Sperry, a 30-year-old rookie.
The fire destroyed the Millers' home on Falcon Ridge Road just outside Zillah. Sperry was living with the Millers temporarily while his own home was being built.
The bodies of the three were found in the basement of the two-story house, but that doesn't necessarily mean they died there since the floors collapsed from fire damage.
