UPDATE ON INDEX WOMAN INJURED ON HY 2
March 08, 2010

(SEATTLE, WA) -- Officials at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle tell the Chronicle an Index woman remained in intensive care in serious condition Monday from injuries sustained in a one car accident last Friday evening on U.S. Highway 2 in the Gold Bar area.

In a story first reported by the Sky Valley Chronicle, 52-year old Katherine A. Hughes of Index was Eastbound on Highway 2 Friday at 5:43 p.m. when the car she was driving, a 1996 Ford Taurus, “overcorrected” on the road, veered to the right, struck a guard rail then a power pole and came to rest on its side.

Hughes was airlifted to the Harborview regional trauma center for treatment. The Ford she was driving was totaled.

The state patrol does not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash but the cause remains under investigation.
