| |  SCOTTISH MUSIC PROGRAM COMES TO INDEX October 03, 2011


Scottish fiddler Ryan McKasson who will be performing at Index, WA October 7. CLICK TO ENLARGE (INDEX, WA) -- Index will be the site of a traditional Scottish music concert and school program Friday, October 7.
The benefit concert, presented by Northwest Heritage Resources in partnership with the Index Historical Society. is scheduled for 7:00 pm at The River House in Index, corner of 5th and A Street and will be preceded by a program at the Index School that afternoon.
The concert at the River House is a benefit fundraiser for the Index Museum. Admission is by donation of any amount at the door.
Both the school concert and the evening performance will feature Scottish traditional fiddler Ryan McKasson, who will be joined by Dave Bartley on guitar.
McKasson is a talented fiddler who, in 1996, was the youngest musician to win the National Scottish Fiddle Championship. In 2004 he and his sister Cali formed the band The McKassons and for the past nine years he has also been the fiddler for a contra dance band, The Syncopaths.
McKasson has performed at concert halls and folk venues throughout the U.S. and has also recorded with well-known Scottish fiddlers Hanneke Cassel and Alasdair Fraser.
Guitarist Dave Bartley. Besides playing classical music with the Seattle Symphony and Opera, is equally at home with jazz, rock, swing and cabaret music.
The event is funded in part by Northwest Heritage Resources and the National Endowment for the Arts.
