RESIDENTIAL BURGLARS TARGETING INDEX AREA
December 04, 2012

Editor’s note: this story originally ran Tues, morning 12/4 in our Breaking News column on the front page.

(INDEX, WA) -- Reports out of Index say that at Monday night’s town council meeting a Snohomish County Sheriff’s deputy informed community members there is an organized group of people that’s robbing homes in the Index area.

They are reportedly stealing guns, electronic equipment and have no fear of dogs.

There’s also reports of a white Ford truck with a loud muffler that’s been seen in the Index area steeling gas during day light hours.

If you see something suspicious in the community you are asked to call 911 immediately.

When reporting suspicious activity to the 911 call center operator, attempt to provide as much information as you can obtain first hand without placing yourself at risk.

An officer will be dispatched to locate and talk with any suspicious acting individuals that may be in the area.

Sometimes when running the ID of a person through the law enforcement database an officer discoverers the person is wanted on an outstanding warrant or for some other reason and an arrest can be made on the spot.

Residents can also email the Chronicle directly, as events are happening, at newstip@skyvalleychronicle.com.

Quite often we can get information published on the front page in real-time as events unfold, thus alerting everyone in the community at the same time to be on the alert for suspicious activity and to keep an eye on a neighbor’s home if the neighbor is away for the day.
