IT'S HOEDOWN TIME AT INDEX
October 01, 2010
(INDEX, WA) -- Friends of Heybrook Ridge are holding their annual “Hoedown Fundraiser” at the River House in Index Saturday Oct 2 from 4-10pm.
Heybrook Ridge is the Sky Valley's true environmental success story. When Index locals heard in 2006 that the ridge (located right across the Skykomish River from Index) was slated to be logged, they banded together to raise money to buy the ridge and save the trees and the view for local homeowners in Index.
Treed landscapes outside the front door are generally preferred over bald hillsides ripe for erosion.
The ridge is now Snohomish County's newest park and the fundraiser Saturday will help raise money for trail building.
The event features several bands, food, and a silent auction. Cost is $15 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.
