(GOLD BAR, WA.) -- A Christmas parade, tree lighting ceremony, hot chocolate with Santa, a holiday market with wonderful hand crafted items and a terrific rummage sale.
It's all on tap today, Saturday Dec. 12 in the upper Sky Valley. Here's the details.
GOLD BAR XMAS TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY AND PARADE : A very cool small town Christmas event (where a grand time is always had by all) and a Sky Valley tradition is the annual Gold Bar Xmas Tree Lighting event.
It takes place Sat. Dec. 12 at the 5th Street park gazebo right after the Xmas parade -- which starts at 7 pm and runs down Lewis Street, 10th to 5th to Orchard.
Staging starts at 6:30 pm at the Family Grocer. After the parade Santa shows up at the Gazebo for the Xmas Tree lighting (our reporters have been there for that in the past and can verify he is THE REAL Santa) and there will be free cocoa, cider and cookies. Goes until 9pm.
SKYKOMISH, WA. HOLIDAY MARKET IS SAT. DEC. 12: It's been rescheduled from November due to the flooding from the Skykomish River last month. There's a big story on the reschedule here .
SURPLUS RUMMAGE SALE IN STARTUP: The Sultan School District is holding a big Surplus Sale of school related furniture, shop equipment, vehicles and technology type items also on Saturday, December 12th, from 9am to 4pm.
It's being held at the Startup Gym located at 14315 366th Ave SE, Startup, WA 98293.
We are advised by our spies that "all items have accumulated at the facility for storage over the past 20+ years and some can be considered vintage."
Everything must go (as they say) to clear the facility for a future Community Center. First come, first served.
U-haul, Cash and Checks only will be accepted at the sale.
No items will be held past 4pm so plan on bringing a large enough vehicle to haul your treasures away in.
