(GOLD BAR, WA.) -- The Snohomish County Public Works department is planning a bridge replacement project this month for May Creek Bridge 559.
The 559 bridge provides vehicular access to rural residential communities in the Skykomish River Valley, east of Gold Bar.
The existing bridge, which was built in 1975, "Has been deemed structurally deficient due to scour and eroding conditions," said a county statement.
Construction begins Monday April 10, 2017 and the bridge will be closed to through traffic from Monday April 17, 2017 through November 2017.
Traffic will be detoured (see map at top right). There will be no access across the bridge during construction. Hours of operation for construction crews is approximately Monday - Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The new bridge will include a longer 100-foot, single span, prestressed precast concrete girder superstructure. The replacement bridge will be 28-feet wide curb-to-curb with two 11-foot travel lanes and 3-foot shoulders.
Note to residents on May Creek Road: If you call 9-1-1 make sure the call taker knows which side of the bridge you live on so police/fire knows the best route to get to your residence.
