INDEX WOMAN IN SERIOUS CONDITION AFTER CAR CRASH
March 07, 2010

(SEATTLE, WA) -- Officials at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle tell the Chronicle an Index woman remained in serious condition today (Sunday) from injuries sustained in a one car accident Friday evening on U.S. Highway 2 in the Gold Bar area.

In a story first reported by the Sky Valley Chronicle, 52-year old Katherine A. Hughes of Index was Eastbound on Highway 2 Friday at 5:43 p.m. when the car she was driving, a 1996 Ford Taurus, “overcorrected” on the road, veered to the right, struck a guard rail then a power pole and came to rest on its side.

Hughes was airlifted to the Harborview regional trauma center for treatment. The Ford she was driving was totaled.

The state patrol does not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash but the cause remains under investigation.
