(SEATTLE, WA.) -- Seattle Police say two men are recovering at Harborview Medical Center from non life-threatening injuries following a shooting that occurred in the city's Columbia City neighborhood Friday night.
Columbia City is a diverse area with historic homes and shop fronts boundaried on the east by Seward Park and on the west by Beacon Hill.
At 5:35 pm Seattle Police and Fire responded to a reported shooting and vehicle collision at Martin Luther King Jr. Way South and South Edmunds Street.
"According to witnesses at the scene, the victim driver and passenger were traveling south on MLK at South Snoqualmie when the vehicle they were in was shot at from another vehicle," according to detective Mark Jamieson. "Both victims received non life-threatening injuries. The suspect vehicle, a black sedan, was last seen traveling west on Snoqualmie."
Police say the victim driver drove at a high rate of speed before hitting three other vehicles and stopping at MLK and South Edmunds Street. Police and SFD contacted the victims there and SFD medics transported the two to Harborview for treatment.
The Sound Transit Link Light Rail service was temporarily suspended while officers worked to clear the collision scene on MLK.
Detectives from the Gang Unit responded and began an investigation.
