(EVERETT, WA.) – Police say a homeless man was beaten very badly by another man early in the morning of May 24th in Everett.
The homeless man, 62 year-old Jay Agostinelli who was known to camp in the Everett and Marysville areas, died from the severe injuries he received in that beating.
Now, Everett Police detectives would like your help in identifying the person of interest in the case you see in the photos at right.
Just after midnight on May 24th police responded to the 1200 block of Broadway Ave on a report of two men fighting.
Arriving officers found Mr. Agostinelli lying near a bus stop located on the east side of the street. He was bleeding severely from his head. It turned out that during the assault Agostinelli sustained multiple skull fractures.
A weapon was believed to have been used to beat him. Agostinelli was taken to a local hospital, but died as a result of the injuries he sustained.
Officers contacted several nearby witnesses who watched the assault and they provided a description of a man seen fleeing northbound after the attack. That same man was also seen running eastbound on 12th Street.
The man in the photos at above right (and seen in the video below) is believed to be the man who ran from the scene and is now classified by police as a “person of interest in this case."
