Man Beaten And Shot On Busy Street In Burien Monday Night March 20, 2018
(BURIEN, WA.) -- An unidentified man was beaten up by other men on a busy street in Burien during the evening commute Monday night, then shot when he tried to run away from them.
The King County Sheriff's Office says deputies were called to the 13600 block of Ambaum Blvd. SW about 5:30 pm. Witnesses said two or three men assaulted and beat another man outside an auto shop and when he tried to run away from them, he was shot in the leg.
The first deputy that arrived on the scene found the wounded man bleeding heavily and quickly put a tourniquet on his leg, which may have saved his life. He was rushed to Harborview Medical Center for treatment of the gunshot wound.
Deputies told reporters that two of the suspects involved in the altercation and shooting fled the scene in a black Chrysler and a third man was captured and taken into custody.
According to witnesses the man who was beaten and shot was a pedestrian who was almost hit by the vehicle the suspects were in. They got out of the vehicle and began to beat the man they almost ran over, prior to shooting him.
KIRO-TV in Seattle reported that the suspect vehicle that drove away from the scene may have been involved in a robbery in Burien earlier in the day, according to sheriff's deputies.
KING-TV reported that a video shot by the owner of an AM/PM gas station-convenience store across the street from the incident shows two men standing over the victim punching him and one of the men is also seen picking the victim up and repeatedly slamming him to the ground prior to the shooting.
The TV station report said deputies did not immediately get a good description of the assailants who got away but that the video shows one of the men is black and appears to be in his 20s. He was wearing a gray, zippered sweatshirt.
