(NATIONAL) – If you answered ‘members of the Republican or Democratic parties’ to the above question or rich people or big corporations or all of them together, you were wrong.

In fact, not just wrong. You were way off base.

It’s one of the dirty little secrets of politics that those who hold the reigns of power hope the great unwashed – Joe and Jill Six-pack who sit at home and don’t vote – never figure out.

Because if they do, God help every elected lawmaker in Washington, DC as well as in every state house in this country because there will be hell to pay.

Former US Labor Secretary Robert Reich has produced a short but interesting video that demonstrates visually, the largest political party in America isn’t the Democratic Party or the Republican Party.

It’s the Party of Non-Voters

People who stay at home and don’t vote. He points out that 94 million Americans who were eligible to vote in the 2016 election didn’t vote. That’s a bigger number than the number who voted either for Trump or for Clinton.

All of which means that voter turnout will determine who wins control of Congress next November, and who becomes president in 2020.

It's as simple as that. Turnout is everything. Turnout is your future and your family’s future. Watch the video below.

So now you know why it’s so important for you to vote – and urge everyone you know to vote, too. A reader to the YouTube page where Mr. Reich posted the above video wrote down this old quote from the late President Theodore Roosevelt:

“To sit home, read one's favorite paper, and scoff at the misdeeds of the men who do things, is easy, but it is markedly ineffective. It is what evil men count upon.”
