(CATHLAMET, WA.) – The ongoing reality is, if you’re on a motorcycle and riding on a highway anywhere, you just never know when the moment may arrive that one wrong move - in inches or feet - made by the driver of a car or truck will result in you taking your last breath on this earth.

Such a thing happened Saturday afternoon in Cathlamet, Washington which is located down in Wahkiakum County in the southwest corner of the state.

Cathlamet is a small hamlet located right across the Columbia River from Westport, Oregon.

The incident happened about 1:00 pm. The state patrol report says a white, 2014 Dodge RAM pickup truck was westbound on State Route 4 near Messenger Hill Drive inside the Cathlamet city limits while two motorcycles – a black Harley Davidson FLHTK and a red Harley of the same model type – were eastbound at the same location when, for reasons unknown, the pickup crossed the center line and smashed into the two motorcycles.

Both motorcycles were totaled by the impact. The patrol accident report says the driver of the red Harley, identified as 56-year old William J. Neudorher of Vancouver, WA was deceased at the scene. A passenger on that motorcycle, 54-year old Patricia Neudorher also died at the scene.

The driver of the black Harley, 56-year old Wayne R. Priest of Seqium, WA was badly injured and airlifted to Peace Health Southwest Medical Center.

The driver of the Dodge RAM pickup, identified as 22-year old Branson Chase Myers of Longview, Washington was not injured.

The patrol report lists the cause of the accident as “crossing center line,” and notes the causing driver will face charges of 2nd degree negligent driving.

The patrol report says drugs and/or alcohol were not believed to have been contributing factors in the double fatality incident.
