(KITSAP COUNTY, wa.) – The Kitsap County Sheriff’s office says it has located the suspect vehicle in a hit and run fatality over the weekend that claimed the life of a 61-year old retired Navy man.

In a statement issued Saturday evening the sheriff's office said, “Thanks to tips from the public in response to our social media posts and news media coverage, we have positively identified a white 2016 Chevrolet Cruze as the suspect vehicle in the deadly car versus pedestrian, hit and run collision on Sidney Rd SW, that claimed the life of Michael Keaton early Saturday morning. “

The vehicle was located on 18th Ave. East in the Midland community, south of Tacoma, in Pierce County. It has since been recovered and impounded by the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office “as evidence pending the application for a search warrant for inspection. “

Investigators say they positively identified this particular vehicle as the suspect car through visual inspection and comparison with forensic evidence found at the scene on Sidney Rd in Port Orchard.

The sheriff’s office says the suspected driver of that car at the time of the incident, 29-year old Ali Rochelle Giannini has not yet been located but is being sought for questioning “concerning her role in this tragedy.” Giannini has been known to go by the name of "Brittney.” She is described as a transient whose last known address is in Eatonville and is known to frequent the Pierce County area.

The sheriff’s office also says that Giannini has a “No Bail” felony warrant out for her arrest, issued by the Thurston County Sheriff's Office for Possession of Methamphetamine and Oxycontin, as well as additional misdemeanor warrants for her arrest on file as well.

Anyone who has information about the whereabouts of Ms. Giannini is asked to call 9-1-1 immediately. Callers may remain anonymous.

Anyone who has additional information about the collision investigation may also contact Deputy Rob Corn at 360-337-4634 or by email at RCorn@co.kitsap.wa.us.

Background on fatal hit & run incident

At approximately 7:00 am Saturday morning, Kitsap County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the area of Sidney Rd and Matrix Loop to check on a person who was lying on the side of the roadway.

“When they arrived, Deputies found that the person was deceased and was the victim of an apparent hit and run motor vehicle collision,” said a sheriff’s office statement.

The victim, identified as 61-year old Michael D. Keaton of South Kitsap, appeared to have been walking southbound on the northbound shoulder of Sidney Rd before being hit by a vehicle.

The sheriff’s office says he was “well off of the roadway, walking against traffic and wearing a bright colored shirt and reflective vest.” It was also daylight outside at that time of day. The vehicle that struck Keaton was traveling northbound on Sidney Rd and had driven onto the shoulder.

Deputies were able to locate surveillance video which showed the suspect vehicle traveling northbound on Sidney Rd at 6:51 am. The vehicle appeared to be a white late model, possibly 2012-2015, Chevrolet Cruze (or similar vehicle) 4-door sedan with 5 spoke rims.

Investigators from the KCSO Traffic Investigation unit responded and documented the scene. Sidney Rd was closed between Lakeway Blvd and the Port Orchard Airport for approximately 7 hours while deputies processed the crime scene.
