"The #1 Read & Rated Sky Valley News Source
& Only Daily Paper in the Sky Valley!"
DONATE TO THE SKY VALLEY CHRONICLE
March 16, 2017
TO OUR READERS,
There has never been a more important time to support independent, non-corporate grass roots journalism. For reasons why, see below.
Please give the DONATE button you see on this page a light workout to show your support for independent news, the kind you depend on and want to read. The Chronicle is not run out of a home office in New York or L.A. and the only bosses we answer to are you the reader.
Suggested donation: $11.99 to $19.95 but give at your own comfort level. If you'd care to see valid reasons why you should support this publication, we've included them below.
Note: we do not see or store any credit card data. That's all handled by PayPal.
WHY YOU SHOULD DONATE TO THE CHRONICLE
There are serious men and women of good reason and sound minds that believe we have entered a dangerous period in American history for the news media, democracy as we know it and the nation as a whole.
A period where the free press - which is essential to any democracy - has come under sustained attack in new and unprecedented ways by a hostile federal government now captained by a billionaire former "reality TV" host who has gone to great pains to try and convince Americans that a free press is not only their "enemy", it is also his "opposition party" and that only he can be relied upon to tell you the truth.
Only believe what he tells you, not the news media whose job it is to hold those in power accountable.
These are dangerous times indeed for democracy and the news business.
The federal administration as of this writing has already signaled it's displeasure in a variety of ways with any news operation that does not provide favorable news coverage.
There has been talk of changing laws to make it easier for the government and big corporations to intimidate and control the news media.
That alone should send shivers down your spine for the future of a free press in this country and give you a reason to support our publication.
For the Sky Valley Chronicle, attacks on free speech and coverage of news that certain people do not want covered is not an abstraction, but a reality. We wish we could share the details of that reality with you but alas, we cannot.
As you already know, there is now but a handful of multinational corporations that control much of what the American people see, hear and read.
Completely independent, general interest newspapers that have large readerships like the Sky Valley Chronicle - that are not funded by large corporate money - are rare birds and getting rarer.
The Sky Valley Chronicle has broken hundreds, possibly a thousand or more news stories over just the past few years that otherwise might not have been published or covered in any meaningful sense by most large corporate news operations, either locally or nationally.
For example, this publication was all over the TPP issue while most of the mass media was ignoring it.
If you appreciate the voice of independent news, the type the Chronicle brings your way daily - and if you desire to see a continued free and independent flow of news in this region and nation - then please take a proactive, patriotic step now and donate to insure that you continue to receive the valuable news and information you desire.
To continue to perform and produce as an independent voice in this sea of corporate droning and prepared sound-bites - in an era where the free press is under attack like never before in modern history by powerful interests - your financial support of this publication is needed and appreciated.
This is YOUR news, free from restrictions imposed by corporate or government interests.
YOUR news that affects your life, livelihood, region and neighborhood. YOUR news that keeps you informed about what matters to you most.
Now your news needs your help to continue the good fight as time marches on. Your donation helps ensure that we can continue publishing news that you want to read.
We thank you for your support.
