Young girl shot in the back in Seattle's Leschi neighborhood
March 11, 2018

(SEATTLE, WA.) -- Seattle Police say a 15-year-old girl is recovering in the hospital after she was injured when she was shot in the back Saturday night in the Leschi neighborhood.

"At approximately 8:15 pm, officers responded to the 3800 block of East Superior Street for a report of a shooting," said SPD Detective Mark Jamieson. "Officers arrived and found the victim who had been struck in the back.  She was transported to Harborview Medical Center by Seattle Fire medics.  The injury is not believed to be life-threatening, and the victim was alert and conscious when she was transported."

Officers began investigating and determined that there had been a party at the residence earlier in the evening and that several people showed up at the party "uninvited and had been asked to leave," which they did.

Shortly thereafter three to five shots were fired from outside the house. The young girl that was hit was standing inside the house and was struck by a bullet that went through the front door.

Officers searched the area for physical evidence and a suspect vehicle, but did not locate one. Detectives will handle the follow up investigation.
