What the Republican Controlled Congress Could Have Done With That $1.5 Trillion Dollars
December 25, 2017

Happy tax reformers in Washington, DC unveiling happy tax reform for the huddled, befuddled masses. CLICK TO ENLARGE
Chronicle opinion

(NATIONAL) -- Have you wondered what America could have done with $1.5 Trillion - big money that we all collectively now owe as new, long term debt - instead of giving rich guys who live in Scarsdale and big corporations a huge tax break on a permanent basis for a Christmas present?

There's a lot of good things we could have done with that big money. Such as:

- Make college tuition-free
- Erase student debt
- Provide universal preschool
- Repair our crumbling infrastructure
- Fund the Children's Health Insurance Program for 107 years
- Rebuild Puerto Rico

What Republicans did: Give big PERMANENT tax breaks to the wealthy and corporations and puny TEMPORARY ones to some (but not all) American taxpayers so they'd feel they at least got "something" out of that whole rotten-to-the-core deal, better known as the worst legislation in thirty years.

Your government (as usual) hard at work for billionaires.
