February 01, 2018
(MARYSVILLE, WA.) – On Wednesday January 31st at about 9:37 pm. the Washington State Patrol (WSP) received a report of a pedestrian walking in the roadway southbound on Interstate 5 (I-5) just south of Samish Way in Bellingham
Troopers responded to the area and located the pedestrian, but not walking. The unidentified person was lying on the right side of the roadway and had “suffered injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle,” says a state patrol statement issued today.
The pedestrian was transported by aid car to St. Joseph Hospital in Bellingham and later to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with serious injuries.
Troopers and detectives collected evidence at the scene that the fleeing vehicle left behind.
“Based on the evidence, we are now attempting to locate a green 1991-1996 Ford Escort or a 1991-1996 Mercury Tracer,” said WSP Trooper Heather Axtman. “The vehicle should have damage to the front passenger side headlight area and the passenger side windshield.”
