(KITSAP COUNTY, WA.) – The first word came at 5:42 pm Saturday evening from WSP Trooper Chelsea Hodgson: “Bremerton Troopers are investigating a one car tree collision off NB SR 3 across from Thompson RD NW. A female passenger has been airlifted and the driver is under arrest vehicular assault.”

The crash occurred about halfway between Poulsbo and Lofall on SR 3. Collision investigators said the vehicle (a GMC pickup truck) “went off the roadway to the right, through a chain link fence and across Viking Way into the tree line before striking a tree,” said trooper Hodgson.

See photos above right.

By 6:45 pm investigators had wrapped up their measurements and photographs, by 7:15 pm the pickup had been pulled from out of the tree line and towed away and by just before 8 pm the roadway was clear of the collision.

Names of those in the truck were not immediately available.
