The group claims Monsanto is altering "the nature of our food supply without concern about long tern effects on human health, because they are creating a monopoly on the supply of seeds for farmers and because of increasing evidence of long term environmental damages," according to an Anonymous video announcing the day of action.
Many people around the world believe that for too long, Monsanto has been the benefactor of corporate subsidies and political favoritism and that organic and small farmers continue to suffer losses while Monsanto, they allege, continues to "forge its monopoly over the world’s food supply, including exclusive patenting rights over seeds and genetic makeup," according to one website promoting the protest events.
