BREAKING NEWS | | VOA LAUNCHES “HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS” FUNDRAISER To help struggling families November 03, 2012

The annual, free Sultan Harvest Community Dinner in November is usually held at the Volunteers of America building in Sultan at 701 - 1st Street. CLICK TO ENLARGE (EVERETT, WA) -- Volunteers of America (VOA) is launching a fundraising campaign called “A Home for the Holidays” to coincide with worldwide Homelessness Awareness Week, which happens November 10-18.
VOA seeks to partner with local businesses and organizations by hosting internal fundraising events, as well as helping to promote the charity’s “text to give” line. “We’re trying to make donating to this cause as accessible as possible,” said Joell Coltrane, VOA’s Community Outreach Manager. “All you have to do is text GIVEVOA to 80077 and you can make a small donation to this fundraiser.” There are many families that are struggling in these difficult times including mothers escaping domestic violence, those who are homeless or about to be, seniors, working class families who are employed but shrugging to make ends meet, the long term unemployed and more.
“Stresses are often doubled during the holiday season,” Coltrane said. “We’re hoping that many of our partners in the community will help spread the word, whether it’s by hosting an event in the workplace, or just getting the text to donate number out through their social media channels.”
All proceeds will go to Volunteers of America’s Ending Homelessness program, which gives families the resources and support to become self-sufficient.
VOA staff will be available for in-person presentations at businesses and, fundraising support. More info: contact Ryan Pangilinan, VOA 425-259-3191
