(TEXAS) -- A bluish-green streak in the night sky that was seen as far north as Oklahoma City and as far south as Houston around 8 p.m. Wednesday was most likely a meteor or piece of space junk, officials say, according to a report in the Austin-American Statesman.
The sighting got a lot of people talking and that brought in the Federal Aviation Administration to examine the police footage of the incident.
FAA officials made their assessment after looking at police dashboard camera footage provided by the Little River-Academy Police Chief Troy Hess, who also observed the light in the sky and its movement.
Hess said he observed the light, “Getting bigger, and the color kept changing."
