(SHORELINE, WA.) – 7:49 pm Wednesday night: “Reference the collision on SR 104. Two motorcycles and two are confirmed deceased,” wrote WSP Trooper Rick Johnson in a short tweet.

Then at 9:51 pm this one: “The two MC’s were traveling EB at 1st ave S. when they struck a turning vehicle...WSP does believe speed was a factor in the collision. Roadway is still closed.”

The two men who died were both 26 years of age and both were Shoreline, Washington residents.

The initial WSP accident report says this is what appeared to have happened: The two motorcycles were eastbound on State Route 104 approaching First Avenue NE at “a high rate of speed.”

One bike was a 2009 Suzuki GSX-R750 and the other one was a 2009 Suzuki GSX-R600.

As the motorcycles were getting close to First Avenue NE, a 2018 Buick Enclave was trying to make a left turn onto First Ave. NE. The Suzuki GSX-R750 ran into the Buick in the intersection causing the other motorcycle, the GSX-R600 also to hit the Buick.

The GSX-R750 caught on fire and came to a stop in lane one on First Ave. NE. The rider came to rest in lanes one and two, westbound on SR 104.

The rider of the GSX-R600 was ejected from the bike and landed on a hillside adjacent to the eastbound lanes.

The Buick came to a stop on a sidewalk on the southeast corner of the intersection. Deceased at the scene was the rider of the Suzuki GSX-R6000 identified as 26-year old Adrian T. Simpkins of Shoreline, Washington.

The driver of the Suzuki GSX-R750, also 26-years old and a resident of Shoreline was also pronounced dead at the scene. As of this writing his name is being withheld pending notification of family.

The driver of the Buick, a 52-year old man from Indianapolis, Indiana was not injured but his vehicle was totaled.

The patrol report listed the cause of the fatal crashes as “speed.”
