Tony Schwartz, the ghost-writer who co-authored Donald Trump’s book “The Art Of The Deal” appearing on CNN Sunday.
“We are in a true emergency,” Schwartz said on CNN. “And the accelerated rate at which his breakdown or decompensation is occurring is cause for us, and certainly for me, to come on to TV more often, to tweet more often.”
He says at this point in time, knowing what he knows about Trump he feels the U.S. is at "enormous risk that goes far beyond what most journalists are comfortable saying."
Schwartz appeared on the CNN program “Reliable Sources with host Brian Stelter. Some items from that interview:
…….When asked by Stelter if he was trying to sound the alarm about Trump, Schwartz said he was indeed trying to act like Paul Revere.
…….On Trump’s trip to Europe Schwartz said he sees Trump employing the “Roy Cohen version of the Art Of The Deal,” which is “pound, demand, insist and say the same thing over and over and over again on the assumption that at a certain point people will collapse and accept what he said even if it’s untrue.”
…….On Trump’s repeating over and over again the phrase “no collusion” both in Twitter posts and in interviews (hundreds of times) Schwartz says that phrase is a conscious tactic employed by Trump, a kind of, “Lullabye he wants to get you to go to sleep to and wake up believing. He’s very, very intentional about that.”
