BREAKING NEWS | | Triple homicide-suicide in Pierce County Two children among the dead March 13, 2018

(PIERCE COUNTY, WA.) -- The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department says two toddlers - one boy and one girl under 5 years old - and their parents are dead in a murder-suicide at a home near Spanaway.
Just before 5 am this short tweet from the sheriff's office: "Triple homicide-suicide in the 5700 block of 209th ST E. Deceased are two toddlers under 5 years old and their mother. Suspect is father who committed suicide after calling 911 and stating he was responsible for homicides. Transitioning from SWAT operations to investigations."
The sheriff's office said the father was "a member of the air force" and was stationed at Joint Base Lewis McChord.
Sheriff’s Department spokesman Ed Troyer said officers went to the home after a man called 911 at 1 a.m. Tuesday (this) morning and said he killed his wife and two children.
"He thanked us for our time, but said by the time we got there he would be deceased as well, and he followed through with that," said Troyer.
When officers went into the home after receiving no response from the man inside they found the bodies of a man, a woman and their two children. All had gunshot wounds. The wife and the children were in their beds.
