Thurston County psychologist license suspended by Wash. State Dept. of Health
July 13, 2018

Chronicle staff

(OLYMPIA, WA)  -- The Washington State Board of Psychology has immediately suspended the license of Thurston County psychologist Gregory L. Williams pending further legal action.

A statement released July 12 by the Washington State Dept. of Health says, “Charges state that without permission, Williams accessed mailboxes assigned to other providers working from a shared office space, opened mail addressed to other providers, and cashed or deposited insurance payments and other checks made out to the other providers totaling $49,000. Williams is also charged with agreeing to provide a client with financial assistance by paying her rent and cashing checks written out to her.”

Williams cannot practice psychology in Washington until the charges are resolved. He has 20 days to respond to the charges and request a hearing.

The legal documents on this case can be seen online by clicking the link on Provider Credential Search on the Department of Health website; copies can be requested by calling 360-236-4700.

Anyone who believes a health care provider acted unprofessionally is encouraged to call this number and report their complaint.

The Department of Health and the Board of Psychology protect and promote public health, safety, and welfare in Washington by regulating the competency and quality of health care providers.

The agency establishes, monitors, and enforces qualifications for licensing, consistent standards of practice, continuing competency mechanisms, and discipline.

The agency is also responsible for rules, policies and procedures designed to promote the delivery of quality health care to the people in Washington.
