The list of heavy takers: America’s lawmakers who’ve received the most money from the NRA February 19, 2018
The old "thoughts and prayers" line repeated again and again.
(NATIONAL) – Now that high school students who survived the mass shooting and murders of 17 people at the Florida high school last week are publicly shaming Republican lawmakers who’ve taken millions in donations from the National Rifle Association, a list the New York Times put together last year of the lawmakers who’ve benefited the most over the years from money from the NRA (either through donations or spending to benefit the candidate) appears almost as if it were a fresh news story written today.
In the US Senate, who’s at number 6 on the list? None other than Florida Senator Marco Rubio whose election and re-election fortunes were made sweeter by $3,303,355 from the NRA.
Next to his name is a quote from Rubio about the Las Vegas massacre last year: “I’m praying for all the victims, their families, and our first responders in the #LasVegas #MandalayBay shooting.”
Sound familiar? Look at the list found here and then look at the statements all those lawmakers made about the 2017 Las Vegas concert “bump-stock” slaughter.
