The Seattle ticket scammer
A naughty boy

February 13, 2018

(SEATTLE, WA.) – Seattle Police are looking to speak with anyone who may have been a victim and bamboozled (there’s a word for you) out of their hard earned money by a concert ticket scam artist.

SPD detectives began investigating the man back in June 2017 after surveillance cameras caught him breaking into a Wedgwood restaurant, according to a police statement.

They later learned the same guy had reportedly stolen ticket “stock paper” during another break-in at a University District music venue.

The plot thickened.

Police discovered the balding, white male in his late 40’s was trying to sell tickets to a local concert and busted him in a grocery store parking lot shortly after he tried to pawn a few tickets off on an unsuspecting victim.

Detectives served a warrant on the guy’s house and recovered the remaining ticket paper and a laptop used to print the forged tickets.

Police think the bogus ticket perp may have sold those phony pieces of paper to dozens of people and are now seeking potential victims of his scam.

The man reportedly posted ads for his tickets on sites like Craigslist and Offer-up and “always met his victims in-person in the King County area.” (A tip off right there that perhaps something might have been amiss. Remember kids, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.)

If you believe you may have been targeted by this alleged ticket bamboozler, a charlatan of the first order it would appear, please email detectives at SPD5029@Seattle.gov.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
