Teenager charged with setting the big Columbia Gorge Wildfire

(HOOD RIVER, OREGON) -- The Hood River County District Attorney's office says it has charged q 15-year old Vancouver, WA boy with setting the huge Columbia River Gorge wildfire in September.

The blaze, which started on September 2nd charred some 48,800 acres of forestland, caused homeowner evacuations and closed an Interstate highway.
The boy has been charged in juvenile court with staring the fire through the reckless use of fireworks, depositing burning materials on forest lands, criminal mischief and recklessly endangering other persons, according to a statement from the prosecutor's office.
The charges follow a criminal investigation into the cause of the fire by the Oregon State Police. That agency has withheld the boy's identity
