(INTERNATIONAL) -- American born Marie Colvin, a well known veteran war correspondent with the Sunday Times newspaper in Great Britain is one of two western journalists killed in the escalating violence in Homs, Syria.
Colvin and a French photojournalist, Remi Ochlik died in a mortar attack on a building in the city that was being used as a makeshift media center for reporters.
Ironically Colvin had been interviewed just this past Tuesday by the BBC World and told of watching a small baby die of a shrapnel wound in front of her.
She described the scene as, “absolutely horrific,” and added that type of thing is happening “over and over and over and no one here can understand how the international community can let this happen.”
In this undated video below Colvin talked about the dangers correspondents face, the loss of her eye, and her work to bring to light an unreported humanitarian disaster.
