Suspect In Fatal Hit & Run Incident In Kitsap County Arrested
July 17, 2018

(PORT ORCHARD, WA.) – A 29-year-old woman, Ali Rochelle Giannini who authorities had named as a suspect in the hit and run death over the past weekend of a retired Navy man from Port Orchard has been arrested and booked into jail.

The Kitsap County Sheriff's office said earlier it believed Giannini was the person driving a white Chevrolet Cruze that ran into and killed 61-year-old Michael D. Keaton of Port Orchard on Saturday then fled the scene in that car after the impact.

A sheriff’s office spokesman said Giannini surrendered herself to authorities. Giannini s was booked for investigation of hit-and-run resulting in death, failure to appear and contempt of court, according to the sheriff’s office. Bail was set at $1 million.

Giannini was also wanted on drug charges including possession of methamphetamine and oxycontin.

Mr. Keaton was killed while out on his usual morning walk at around 7 am Saturday. The terrible irony of his death is that Keaton was as well prepared defensively as anyone could be while out taking a walk on a busy road.

The sheriff’s office says he was “well off of the roadway, walking against traffic and wearing a bright colored shirt and reflective vest.” It was also daylight outside at that time of day. The vehicle that struck Keaton was traveling northbound on Sidney Rd and had driven onto the shoulder.
