Strange road rage incident leaves two dead on California highway
August 15, 2018

Chronicle staff

(SACRAMENTO, CA.) – This is about as strange a fatal road rage incident as you’re likely to hear.

Authorities say two men are dead after a vehicle collision between two cars led one driver to beat the other driver to death with a bat and then the bat wielder was hit by another car and killed.

TV station KTXL reported that a driver, who did not want to his name mentioned, was headed to the Sacramento Airport on Interstate 5 early Saturday morning when he saw the body of a man in the road and shot a dashcam video of a “person laying down in the street."

Investigators later determined that body was the result of a two car crash that became a fight between two men with the bat-wielding suspect then hit by another car and killed as he walked on the highway after killing the other man in the fight.

The bat-wielder was a 37-year old Oroville, CA man and the man struck and killed by the bat-wielder was a 39-year old Sacramento man.

The TV station report here says their cars collided near Arena Boulevard along I-5 north before the two drivers continued on in their vehicles to a nearby location where they got out of the cars and began to fight.
