State Patrol looking
for sniper
Who shot up four cars near SeaTac Airport

June 14, 2018

(BURIEN, WA.) – The first word came at about 3:00 pm Wednesday from the Washington State Patrol:

“The WSP is investigating an active shooter incident along SR 509 involving 4 cars, no injuries. Motorists advised to stay away from area.“

And this: “!! AVOID SB SR 509 BY SEA-TAC!! All lanes near S 160th St are blocked for an incident. No ETA on when lanes will reopen. Use alternate routes if you normally drive through here!”

There was indeed a shooter. He or she was taking pot shots at cars on Highway 509 in Burien from a treeline east of the busy highway.

Four cars took hits. See some photos at upper right. Luckily there were no injuries. During the search for the shooter the WSP blocked off  both the northbound and southbound lanes Highway 509 at South 160th Street about 2:30 pm.

A major sweep of the area found no shooter and all lanes were reopened just after 8:30 pm.
